A) Matriculation essay (Assignment 11)

Write a short composition of between 150-250 words on one of the following topics. Follow the guidance.

1. Art and us

Why has man always created art (paintings, poetry, fiction, drama, music, etc.)? What is the purpose of art?

2. Mind your manners

Why is nice behavior important in human society? Do Finnish manners differ from those of the rest of Europe?

3. Globalization

What do you understand by globalization? Discuss how it can work both for good and evil.

B) Email inquiry (Assignment 12)

You have purchased a product / a service but you are not happy with it. Write an email to the company in which you explain your situation: what you bought, where, when, and what the problem is. Ask for a refund / compensation. Be polite and use formal language. Remember to include the date and your signature. Length: 150-250 words.
